You can back up configurations for a single switch or for a group of switches. In addition, you can back up configurations automatically at a specific interval. 

Backing up Switch Configurations

Backing up Configurations for a Single Device

To back up configurations for a single switch, follow these steps:

  1. In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template.

  2. In the Config Backup tab, locate a switch, and click Backup Config.

Backing up Configurations for a Group of Switches

To back up configurations for a group of switches, follow these steps:

  1. In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template.

  2. In the Config Backup tab, select the group you want to back up, and then click Backup Config.

Backing up Configurations Automatically

To back up configurations periodically and automatically, follow these steps:

  1. In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template.

  2. In the Config Backup tab, set the following schedule:

  • Interval Days: The interval in days between each backup

  • Hours: The time in hour to do the backup

  1. Click Save. Then, AmpCon-DC will do the backup at the specified time.

Rolling Back a Backup Configuration File

To roll back a backup configuration file, follow these steps:

  1. In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template.

  2. In the Config Backup tab, locate a switch, and then click Snapshot List.

  3. Select the configuration to roll back and click "Rollback Config" for that configuration.

  1. Set the wait time in seconds. The default value is 10.

  2. Click Save.

Optional: Viewing or Deleting Historical Backup Configuration Files

To view the list of backup configuration files or delete a backup configuration file, follow these steps:

In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template. In the Config Backup tab, locate a switch, and then click Snapshot List.

  • To see the configuration details, click Snapshot List.

  • To delete a backup configuration file, click Delete.

Optional: Setting a Golden Config

The Golden Config will never be deleted and is used by default as the configuration to roll back a switch to a stable configuration when the switch operation is compromised. You can also use the Golden Config as the basis to run an automated compliance check to verify whether the network is operating as designed.

To set a Golden Config, follow these steps:

  1. In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template.

  2. In the Config Backup tab, locate a switch, and then click Snapshot List.

  3. Locate a backup snapshot, and then click Set Golden Config.

Optional: Adding or Deleting Historical Configuration File Tags

You can add or delete historical configuration file tags. Follow these steps:

In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template. In the Config Backup tab, locate a switch, and then click Snapshot List. Locate a backup snapshot, and then click Tag Management.

  • To add a historical configuration file tag, enter the tag name, and then click Add > Save.

  • To remove a historical configuration file tag, locate the tag to be deleted, click the removal icon, and then click Save.

Optional: Viewing All Configurations on a Switch

To view detailed configurations on a switch, follow these steps:

  1. In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template.

  2. In the Config Backup tab, locate a switch, and then click Config.

Optional: Uploading Local Configuration Files

To upload a loca switch configuration file to AmpCon-DC, follow these steps:

  1. In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template.

  2. In the Config Backup tab, locate a switch, and then click Upload Config.

Optional: Viewing Configuration Logs

To view configuration logs on a switch, follow these steps:

  1. In the AmpCon-DC UI, click Service > Configuration Template.

  2. In the Config Backup tab, locate a switch, and click Log.
