Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) is a technology for automated deployment and configuration of network devices. AmpCon™-DC provides ZTP, which makes network deployment simpler.

After you plug in the switch, DHCP automatically provides the switch with an IP address and the address of a provision script that is obtained from AmpCon-DC server. The switch automatically runs the script to find the AmpCon-DC server, register with it, and then complete the PicOS® installation and configuration without manual intervention.

The automatic provisioning process includes the following operations:

  • Obtaining a PicOS® image from the AmpCon™-DC server

  • Installing PicOS®

  • Configuring the switch based on system configurations and site configurations

  • Installing a valid license in the switch

Following are the required steps for the automated provisioning of a new switch:

IT operator racks the new switch, powers the switch on and connects it to either an

    in

    the

    switch

will register with the AmpCon server to get configuration and obtain a valid license.
