Configuring the Interval for Sending CSNP Messages
In an IS-IS broadcasting network, all devices synchronize their Link State Database (LSDB) by periodically broadcasting CSNP (Complete Sequence Number PDU) packets through the Designated Intermediate System (DIS). Upon receiving a CSNP message, if other devices discover that a specific Link State Packet (LSP) is missing from their local LSDB or the locally stored LSP is outdated, they will send a PSNP (Partial Sequence Number PDU) message to request the corresponding LSP. Since only the DIS periodically sends CSNP messages, this command can only be configured on the broadcast network interface of the DIS to be effective. The interval for sending CSNP messages can be adjusted using the set protocols isis area-tag <text> interface <interface-name> csnp-interval <csnp-interval> command. The csnp-interval <csnp-interval> value is an integer ranging from 1 to 600 seconds. The default value is 10 seconds.
The following commands configure the interval for sending CSNP messages on a broadcast network.
admin@PICOS# set protocols isis area-tag instance1 interface vlan10 csnp-interval 50
