set protocols vrrp interface vrid md5-key


The set protocols vrrp interface vrid md5-key command configures the authentication key in MD5 authentication mode for a VRRP group.

NOTE:

VRRP authentication is only supported by VRRPv2, which is not supported by VRRPv3.


Command Syntax

set protocols vrrp interface <interface-namevrid <virtual-router-id> md5-key <md5-key>


Parameter

Description

interface <interface-name>

Specifies the Layer 3 interface name of VRRP device. The value could be the VLAN interface name, the routed interface or the sub-interface name. The value is a string.

vrid <virtual-router-id>

Specifies the VRID of a VRRP group. The value is an integer that ranges from 1 to 254.

md5-key <md5-key>

Specifies the authentication key in MD5 authentication mode. The value is a string of 1 to 16 case-sensitive characters without spaces.


Usage Guidelines

NOTE:

Devices in a VRRP group must be configured with the same authentication mode and authentication key; otherwise, the VRRP group cannot negotiate the Master and Backup states.


Example

  • Configure the authentication key in MD5 authentication mode for a VRRP group.
