AmpCon Release Notes

The following notes summarize the release notes for recently released versions of AmpCon, which include the new features, feature enhancement and bug fixes. Best practice recommendation is that you read all the content before upgrading to a certain release. For more detailed feature information, refer to the configuration guides.

Notice

There is a limitation that switch without ONIE support cannot have ZTP workflow.

Notice

There is a limitation that switch without ONIE support cannot have ZTP workflow.

3.     Remove license check as requirement in "Import" process for more easy trial-test.

3.     Fix feedback issues from AmpCon v1.9.0.

1.     Migrate Python version from Python2 to Python3.
2.     Support to backup database and manage the backuped snapshots (backup/restore/delete).
3.     Support to register third-party devices to run Ansible playbook.
4.     Support Ansible Galaxy in AmpCon server Linux command line.
5.     Encrypt sensitive data in AmpCon database.
6.     Support to verify generated configurations via PicOS-V.

Release Notes for AmpCon v1.8.0

1.     Remove WebSSH login credentials configuration in “Users” -> “Manage Users”.
        However, user needs to input valid username + password every time click the “SSH” button in “Deployment” -> “Switch List”.
2.     Update 4.2 configuration tree in “Config/Templates” -> “New Template”.
3.     Support using old license APIs to manage licenses. (Need to configure in “system-setup” phase).
4.     Support non-VPN switch management. (Need to configure in “system-setup” phase).
5.     Support to select multiple site templates to generate configurations in “Deployment” -> “Switch Configuration”.
6.     Support to customize site template form with JSON files (/usr/share/automation/server/template_form_format.json)
7.     Support to push security configuration if switch turns to parking lot.
8.     Support to push images before upgrade in “Lifecycle” -> “Upgrade Firmware”.
9.     Update release VM OS to CentOS 7.9.

Release Notes for AmpCon v1.7.0

NOTE:

If you want to upgrade AmpCon to 1.5.0 from a lower version, please do not upgrade yourself, contact Pica8 technical support engineers for assistance with the upgrade.

Since AmpCon version 1.5.0, the new pool license APIs have been applied which requires the license conversion must be done on the license portal side before upgrade.

  1. Enable AmpCon pool license model, where AmpCon will manage, migrate, and monitor a pool of switches with perpetual license.

  2. Enhance the UI/UX of the major workflows.
