set protocols pimsm4 switch-to-spt-threshold bytes

The set protocols pimsm4 switch-to-spt-threshold bytes command is used to set the rate threshold of the multicast packets in measurement interval when the DR at the member side joins the SPT.

By default, the system performs SPT switchover on receiving the first multicast data packet through the RPT.

Command Syntax

set protocols pimsm4 switch-to-spt-threshold bytes <traffic-rate>

Parameter

Parameter

Description

bytes <traffic-rate>

Specifies the threshold rate for the switchover from the RPT to the SPT. The value is an integer in bytes.

Usage Guidelines

After the set protocols pimsm4 switch-to-spt-threshold bytes command is configured on the receiver's DR, the receiver's DR periodically checks the forwarding rate of multicast packets. When the forwarding rate exceeds the threshold, the receiver's DR sends a Join messages to the source, triggering the SPT switchover.

The measurement interval can be configured by using set protocols pimsm4 switch-to-spt-threshold interval command.

Example

  • Set the rate threshold of the multicast packets in measurement interval for SPT switchover to 1000 bytes.
