Replacing Faulty Devices

When a certain normally running switch (deployed on AmpCon) fails, the RMA process on AmpCon can be used for quick replacement of faulty devices. The new switch can quickly obtain the configuration file of the failed one from the server, thus reducing the impact of the faulty switch on the network.

Note: The RMA function is only applicable to the switches that are deployed on AmpCon server.

The RMA process requires the device installation engineer to replace the faulty device with a new one and report the new device SN number to the network administrator.

Use the following RMA procedure to configure the correlation between the new Switch and the faulty Switch on the AmpCon server. Based on the SN number of the new Switch, AmpCon server will complete the information acquisition and configuration loading of the new Switch.

RMA Procedure

Step 1        Select Lifecycle > Deployed Switch List.

Step 2        Click the RMA icon   in the operation column of the faulty device you want to perform RMA operation on and a Switch RMA config page will pop up.

Step 3        Configure the replacement information.

   a)   In the Switch RMA config page, click the "OFF" button of the staged parameter to switch the staged state of the switch to on;

   b)   Enter the SN number of the new Switch in the new sn parameter field.

   c)   Click Save to save the configuration.

After that, the AmpCon server will re-initiate the deployed process for the new switch, and load the configuration file of the old switch saved on the AmpCon server to the new Switch.
