Importing a Switch
When a switch is already configured and deployed manually, but there is no switch entry in AmpCon server, AmpCon server cannot manage that switch in this case, and the administrator cannot use AmpCon lifecycle or SDN function to control the switch.
User can import a switch automatically or manually into AmpCon, please follow the guidance provided in this section to import a switch to AmpCon server.
Automatically Import a Switch
Procedure
Step 1Â Â Â Â Select Lifecycle > Import Switch.
Step 2Â Â Â Â Click Import, in the Import Vpn Switch dialog box, enter the management IP of the switch and click Save to save the configuration.
Then, AmpCon will automatically perform the following actions to import the switch:
- Create VPN tunnel keys for that switch.
- SSH login to that switch, and let switch download nit-building tunnel connection script (enable_switch_vpn.sh).
- Execute that script (enable_switch_vpn.sh), it will download the keys and build the VPN tunnel.
- Change the switch status on AmpCon server to "Imported".
Note
AmpCon have multi-sites support after v1.13.1 version.
It support to specify "System Config" while importing switch.
If user doesn't have case for multi-sites, select "Global" as the default option which will use global configuration in "Settings" → "System Configuration".
Otherwise, user needs to create site system configuration first in "Settings" → "System Configuration" and then specify the associated configuration in the dropdowns.
After that, you can use AmpCon to do the following management operations for the imported switch: Upgrade Firmware, Retrieve Config, Push Configuration and Remove Switch.
Manually Import a Switch
Generate the Tunnel Key
Step 1Â Â Â Â Select Lifecycle > Import Switch.
Step 2Â Â Â Â Click Adopt, in the Import Vpn Switch dialog box, enter the SN number of the switch by viewing the barcode label on the device.
Step 3Â Â Â Â Â Click Save to save the configuration.
AmpCon server will create tunnel keys for the switch according to the input SN number, and wait for the switch to download keys and script.
Manually Download VPN Script and Run It on the Switch
Step 1Â Â Â Â Select Lifecycle > Import Switch, then click "Download VPN Script" in the top right corner of the page to download the VPN script.
Step 2Â Â Â Â SSH login to the switch via the management terminal.
Step 3Â Â Â Â Manually download the script to the switch and run it.
  Then, the switch will automatically initialize the request to establish VPN tunnel with AmpCon server.
  The AmpCon server exchanges information with the switch to establish a VPN tunnel. Then, the switch status on AmpCon server changes to "Imported".
After that, you can use AmpCon to do the following management operations for the switch: Upgrade Firmware, Retrieve Config, Push Configuration and Remove Switch.
Set Hostname
After the switch has been imported to AmpCon server, users can modify the hostname.
Step 1    Select Lifecycle > Deployed Switch List.
Step 2Â Â Â Â Click the switch name to change its name.
Change the hostname, then click "save" to save the configuration.
